Woman knifed dead

A 66-year-old woman was stabbed dead by two unidentified persons Friday, in Brgy. Daro, Dumaguete City , the police said yesterday.

Valintina Batal, 66, of Brgy. Maningcao Gamay, Sibulan, Negros Oriental was delivering empty sacks of flour when two male suspects stabbed her for still unknown reason.

Investigation revealed that Batal and her two daughters were delivering empty sacks of flour ordered by Primitiva Amorin of Purok Colonan, Brgy. Daro, when the incident happened about 10:20 a.m. Friday.

Dumaguete lotto operator
eyeing reopening of outlet

One of three pioneer lotto operators in Dumaguete yesterday said he will be forced to reopen his business, if the city government fails to permanently close the two other outlets which are allegedly operating without mayor's and business permits.

Enrique Medina said the city has not implemented the closure of the two lotto outlets at Colon Street and Daang Taytayan, Brgy. Calindagan, Dumaguete.

This violates Provincial Ordinance No. 4 prohibiting lotto outlets from operating without complying with business permit requirements, he said.

Nephew shoot by uncle

A teenager was accidentally shot and wounded by his uncle during a drinking spree Wednesday night in Sitio Looc, Barangay Tampocon 1, Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

The victim, identified as Rodrigo Caluscusin, 18, single, of Sitio Looc, while the police are withholding the identity of the suspect.

Caluscusin was fist brought to the Bindoy District Hospital , and later to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital . He said he was with his uncle, cousins and some friends, when the suspect suddenly got a gun of unknown caliber and fired it, hitting him in the left leg.
