Salesman, driver robbed

Six armed men waylaid and robbed at gunpoint a salesman and his driver in Isabela town Saturday, while two robbery-hold-up suspects were arrested and charged in court in Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental, police said.

Senior Inspector Virgilio de la Cruz said Sandy Trinidad, salesman of Maple Sales Inc. and his driver, Roque Molino, reported that while they were on board a delivery van, they were flagged down in Brgy. Tinongan, Isabela by six unidentified armed persons wearing bonnets.

De la Cruz said the suspects divested them of P40,000 in cash and six packs of cigarets, before fleeing.

Meanwhile, the two hold-up suspects identified as Elmar Agudo, 25, and Ramie Tizon, 21, who robbed Angel Bravo and Renalyn Gasataya of their cell phones on Jan. 9, have been arrested by the police during pursuit operation in Brgy. 1 poblacion, Kabankalan City , police said.

Chief Inspector Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, said Tizon and Agudo are both residents of Hinigaran.

Recovered from them were the stolen Nokia and Sony Ericsson cellphones of Bravo and Gasataya, and a Honda motorcycle they used as a get-away vehicle.

Mabugat said robbery charges have already been filed against the two who are now detained at the police station jail of Kabankalan City.*GPB
