ATONO to hold meeting,
tour at new airport in Silay
 

The Silay City government will host the first meeting of the officers and members of the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental, today, at the conference room of the new airport in Silay, a press release from the city said.

The agenda include the proposed tourism activities for this year participation of Negros Occidental in the travel exchange, and evaluation of statistics of tourists arrival in the province.

Tourism officers will have also a familiarization tour at the Passenger Terminal Building of the airport led by Antonio Alfonso, manager of Air Transportation Office, and Edgardo Mangalili, new airport project director of the Department of Transportation and Communication, the press release said.

Mayor Jose Montelibano said Silay has personnel to man the information and assistance center, which will display brochures of all cities, municipalities, hotels and other tourism-related establishments in Negros .

Montelibano added that the Silay police station, with a composite rescue and medical teams, will extend assistance when the airport opens on Friday, the press release said.

A working lunch will be hosted by the Mayor's Office and the Silay City Tourism Development Council at the Fishermen's Village Restaurants in Brgy. Balaring.

The tour will culminate at the IKAW-AKO Japan–Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection Mangrove Rehabilitation Area, which won the Tourism Excellence Award as Best Ecotourism Project 2007 in Western Visayas , the press release added.*
