| The Philippines ' agro-based export earning grew by 26.29 percent in November to $206.90 million from $163.84 million during the same month in 2006, figures from the National Statistics Office show.
The increase was attributed to gains from exportation of coconut products, $85.89 million, which posted a growth of 33.39 percent; sugar and related products ($656,000), 255.57 percent; fruits and vegetables, $71.84 million, 21.24 percent and other agro-based products, including fishery, coffee, abaca, tobacco, rubber and rice, $48.50 million, 21.27 percent.
NSO data indicate that November 2007 receipts from agro-based exports accounted for 5.24 percent of the country's $3.95 billion total export earnings for the month.
Among coconut products, coconut oil posted the highest receipts at $66.72 million. Also, bananas were among the month's top fruit exports at 38.62 million.
Top export earners also included desiccated coconut, $14.23 million; canned pineapple, $13.54 million; and fish, $29.09 million.*
