inspectors take oath

Board Member Melvin Ibañez (5 th District, Neg. Occ.), chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Health, on Thursday administered the oath of office of the officers of the Sanitarian Association of the Philippines – Negros Occidental at the Governor's Hall, Capitol, in Bacolod City, a Capitol press release said.

Inducted were Charito Odio of Himamaylan City as president; Cecil Guilaran – San Enrique, vice-president; Renato Jaleco Sr. – Sagay, secretary; Norma Arevalo – Hinoba-an, treasurer; David Sotea – Cauayan, and Erna Locsin – Cadiz, public information officers; Nonie Pajarillo – Candoni, business manager; Roger Dequito, auditor; Nonoy Tia - Sipalay and Marilou Sendico – La Carlota, sergeant at arms; Jenny Rose Año – Moises Padilla and Isagani Aposaca – Calatrava as muse and consort, respectively.

Meanwhile, the six vice-presidents from the different interlocal health zones were also inducted. They are Ceretel Fejedero, Erna Locsin, Maricel Benjamin, Cecil Guiaran, Daphne Pineda, and Rosemarie Completo, the press release said.

Ibañez challenged the sanitary inspectors to make the province a healthy and safe place, and promote cleanliness.

He also distributed value heath cards he himself initiated together with Gov. Joseph Marañon and Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco providing discounts to hospital expenses in accredited hospitals, the press release said.

Advisers of the association are Jonathan Figueroa of Victorias City, and Nolito Tabigan and Ma. Vilma Celis of the Provincial Health Office, the press release added.*

Tai Chi sessions set

The Wushu Federation Philippines-Bacolod Chapter will hold Tai Chi sessions every Sunday, 7 to 8:30 a.m., at the South Transport Terminal of SM City Bacolod, a press release from organizers said.

The group led by Nelson Manahan invites everyone to learn Tai Chi movements, length of exercise of which, depends on the level of skills of practitioners.

The universal and simplified form of Tai Chi as a form of exercise is the 24-form sequence or the Yang style.

It is an art and system of exercise and a method of self-defense that stresses slow breathing, balanced, relaxed, and rhythmical movements that promotes health, strength and peace of mind, the press release added.*
