Dongail brought
to Guihulngan
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Nearly two months after his arrest in Manila , former Chief Inspector Clarence Dongail was remitted to the Guihulngan Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday.

Dongail is one of those charged for alleged participation in the killing of Eleuterio Salabas and two others, the National Bureau of Investigation said.

A former member of the Bacolod City Police Office, Dongail was escorted by four members of the NBI Security Management Division from Manila on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 132 and arrived in Bacolod at about 6:15 a.m. yesterday, NBI Bacolod chief, Mamerto Cortez said.

He was then brought to the Guihulngan BJMP, in Negros Oriental, escorted by the NBI and a team of Army officers, Cortez added.

Cortez said the transfer was abrupt as they were only informed of it Monday afternoon.

Dongail and 11 other former police officers, including former BCPO directors George Bajelot and Vicente Ponteras, have been tagged in the killing of Salabas, Maximo Lomoljo, and Ricardo Suganob in August 2003.

SPO2 Freddie Natividad had been remitted earlier to the Guihulngan BJMP after his arrest in Iloilo City in December last year.

Eleven civilians have also been included in the charges.

The Office of the President had issued a directive ordering the reinvestigation of the Salabas kidnap-slay case but the arrest warrants against the accused have not been recalled yet.*PP
