| Rep. George Arnaiz (2nd District, NegOr) turned over early this year four irrigation rehabilitation projects to the Tanjay City and Pamplona local government units.
The total project cost is P9 million taken from the P12-million budget of the Department of Agriculture, and implemented by the National Irrigation Administration in Negros Oriental.
The dam site in Novallas, Tanjay had the biggest allocation at P5 million. The concrete irrigation canal rehabilitation of the Lemon-Azagra in Tanjay had P2 million funds, and the rehabilitation of the concrete irrigation canal at Asiotes in Polo, Tanjay and pumpsite in Obogon, Pamplona were funded P1 million each.
At the turnover ceremony, Arnaiz, acknowledged the importance of irrigation system in these areas which have mostly rice lands. He encouraged the farmers associations to help maintain the projects.*MA
