Guv orders strict security
at Balanan Lake resort
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Gov. Emilio Macias II ordered yesterday the strengthening of the security at the Balanan Lake Resort in Barangay Sandulot, Siaton, Negros Oriental, following the drowning of a man who was swimming at the lake on New Year's day.

He said they did not expect any incident to occur, referring to the 22-year -old male victim of drowning.

Macias said all visitors must be oriented by the Balanan Lake Development officials, who should also put up signboards to remind visitors of the dangers in the lake, and to exercise caution.

He said most tourists do not realize the strong underwater current in the lake.

The Balanan Lake was one of the most visited lakes in the province last year.

Macias said he is still expecting a number of visitors to flock to other tourist attractions in the province.*MA
