De la Cruz
recovering well – doc
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Board Member Nehemias de la Cruz, 57, suffered from a mild stroke but is recovering well and is expected to return to the provincial Capitol for work soon, his doctor, Board Member Melvin Ibañez, said yesterday.

He could be back this week, Ibañez said.

De la Cruz's son, Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Laurence Marxlen de la Cruz, said his father was hospitalized on Dec. 28 after suffering from a mild stroke but was released on Dec, 31. He is recovering well at home, the mayor said.

The board member suffered from a hypertensive crisis that caused a transient ischemic attack, or a mild stroke, Ibañez said.

Ibañez said he advised home rest and a change in lifestyle, which includes putting a stop to smoking and observing a proper diet.

De La Cruz represents the first district of Negros Occidental on the provincial board.*CPG
