| Nineteen candidates are vying for the “Hara Sang Negros” title, which will highlight the 32 nd Sinulog Festival of Kabankalan City , Negros Occidental, set on Jan. 11-20, a press release from Kabankalan said.
The contestants are from the Oriental and Occidental sides of Negros island. They had their briefing and press presentation Saturday at the new showroom building in Kabankalan.
Pageant director Rene Hinojales and his staff oriented them on the pageant to be held Jan. 18 at the St. Columban Arts Center of the Kabankalan Catholic College , the press release said.
Competing for the crown are Hazel Caducoy, 19, from Bayawan City ; Kristel Kay Gaviño, 16, La Carlota City; Mae Belen Gonzales, 18, Mabinay; Jane Francis Jarbonido, 18, Canlaon City ;
Jobelle Jinbula, 17, La Castellana; Bina April Saycon, 17, Dumaguete City; Joannie Magbanua, 17, Canlaon City; Shekina Rose Lasola, 20, Dumaguete City; Belle Regine Ann Chavez, 15, Silay City; Kirsty Marie Einosas, 16, Brgy. Tabugon; Katrina Angelica Lazaro, 20, Hinigaran; Charlen Pol Bistis, 20, San Carlos City; Mary Ann Apura, 21, Bacolod City;
Joan Kahmil Sy, 17, Bacolod City; Jolly Latido, 18, Bacolod City; Ivy Infante, 20, Bacolod City; Aida Mari Enuslay, 17, Isabela; Lenny Belonta, 20, Bais City and Gretel Escorial of Bacolod City.

Bacolod team wins
fireworks display tilt
The SM City Bacolod PyroMagic 2007 broke records of attendance for any single event in Bacolod City as visitors and locals gathered at the SM grounds on December 15 and 22 last year, to witness the 1st Fireworks Competition in the city, the press release from organizers said.
It was participated in by six teams from Bacolod , Dumaguete and Manila which showcased their spectacular fireworks.
Declared as grand champion was the Peacock Fireworks of Bacolod City, followed by Manila teams Pyro Haven and Lee Fireworks for the second and third places, respectively, the press release said.
Shoppers were treated to a live music and variety show before the fireworks display, followed by the countdown led by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia to signal the start of the competition, the press release added.*
