“B” sugar prices
climb after slump
 

Millgate prices of “B” sugar in Negros and Panay climbed to P1,067 per 50-kilo Lkg. this week after recovering last week following its slump below P1,000 third week of December, price monitor of the Sugar Master Plan Foundation show.

At the Jan. 3 bidding, prices ranged from P1,028.35 to P1,067.07 while on Dec. 27, just between P1,005 and P1,056.38.

On Dec. 20, price of “B” sugar of Capiz dropped to P975 per Lkg.

This week, Central Azucarera de Don Pedro in Batangas sold its “B” sugar stocks at P1,076 per Lkg.

In Negros on Jan. 3, Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company disposed its “B” stocks at P1,029.25 (high) and P1,023 (low); Central Azucarera de La Carlota, P1,029.62; Hawaiian-Philippine Company, P1,040.38 (high) and P1,035.38;

SONEDCO, P1,033.87; Victorias Milling Company, P1,031.35; Lopez Sugar Corp., P1,028.35; Sagay Central Inc., P1,040; Passi I, P1,067.07; Passi II, P1,042; and Capiz, P1,037.

In the second week of December 2006, “B” sugar prices also dropped below P1,000, then ranging between P977.65 and P1,050 per Lkg. In the third week of December 2006, prices were between P999.12 and P1,065 per Lkg.*NLG
