Mayor seeks SP okay
for relocation contract
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia is requesting authority from the Sangguniang Panlungsod to enter into a contract with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office for the on site relocation of residents of Banago in Bacolod City.

The portion of public land inhabited by several persons, who have long established their permanent residents in the coastal area of Banago, include Puroks Bolinao, Tangigue and Lison in Brgy. 1 and Purok Mahimulaton in Brgy. Banago.

The memorandum of agreement to be entered into by the city and CENRO states that the City Government of Bacolod City is intended to address the scarcity of relocation site and the lack of funds for its development. The city officials find it practical to relocate on site the occupants of public land to save the resources of Bacolod City , it said.

The land shall be disposed to the actual occupants under Miscellaneous Sales Application (R.A. 730) by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CENRO, the MOA said.

It said the city shall allocate P200,000 to fund the structural survey and other related activities, while CENRO shall conduct structural survey, lay-out final lot survey and road scheme, among others, for approval at DENR Regional Surveys Division.

CENRO shall, likewise, accept and process public land applications to be filed by the survey claimants.*CGS
