Five barangay officials
face raps: Borromeo
BY NIDA BUENAFE

Five barangay captains of Candoni may face administrative charges for disrupting the election for the town's Sangguniang Kabataan federation president on December 5, Mayor Cicero Borromeo said yesterday.

A blotter entry from Candoni Police Station states that SK chairpersons Alvimie Lambot of Brgy. East, Michael Saylo of Banga, and Mamerto Duales of Caningay had complained that barangay captains Roberto Alit of Brgy. Haba, Wilfredo Pacheco (Banga), Sony Salvio (Payauan), Rudy Gedelanan (Agboy), and Jovanie Emborneza (Cabia-an), interfered with the procedure of the seminar orientation of the SK before the election.

The complainants said the barangay captains interfered with their activity held at Playa, Cauayan despite the notice posted outside of the venue that it was an exclusive event for SK chairpersons.

The three SK chairpersons filed a petition at the office of the Department of Interior and Local Government in Candoni requesting for the postponement of the federation president election, DILG office records showed.

Despite the petition, however, the election pushed through, which put the integrity of the SK in Candoni in question, Borremeo said.

He added that the barangay captains should face the consequences of their action as concerned citizens of Candoni can file administrative charges against them.*NAB
