Nietes of Murcia and Bacolod City made it two world champions for Negros when he triumphed over Thailand 's Pornsawan Kratingdaenggym the WBO minimumweight title in Cebu City in late September.

VINCENT SOBERANO

Bacolod-born Soberano, 43, holds the World Professional Muay Thai Federation lightweight and welterweight titles. He won both titles by knockout before a combined crowd of 110,000 in Thailand .

JUVIC PAGUNSAN

The former caddie from the Bacolod Golf and Country Club won his first tournament on the Asian Tour in Indonesia in October and placed second in the Volvo Masters of Asia to raise his earnings to $187,000 for 2007.

SHEENA ATILANO

Atilano of La Carlota City broke the 16-year-old Philippine record in women's 100-m hurdles in Pune , India in July and claimed one silver and two bronze medals in the Asian Athletics Grand Prix.

ANYA TANPINCO

Tanpinco of Bacolod City topped the Philippine Women's Amateurs in September in Iloilo , before hauling two silvers in the SEA Games in Thailand. *
