Decomposed body found

The decomposed body of the fisherman reported missing almost a month ago when his banca capsized off the coast of Tañon Straight in Ayungon town, was found Thursday in the mangrove area of Sitio Looc, Brgy. Tampocon 1, Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

Barangay tanods who saw the body that was already in an advanced state of decomposition, identified it as that of Rene Calabroso, 24, single, of Brgy. Jandalamanon, Ayungon.

The body was recovered near the area where that of his companion, Gregorio Manaquil, who also drowned, was recovered two days after they were reported missing.

Search and rescue operation personnel from the local government unit and policemen had searched for the body of Calabroso, who, with his neighbor, Mananquil, had gone fishing in the evening of December 6 and had failed to return since.

Their families said the victims' may could have been swept away by strong winds and waves.*RG
