Guv bares '08 priorities
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Joseph Marañon yesterday called on the support and cooperation of Negrenses in the programs of government as he bared the priorities of the provincial government for Negros Occidental in 2007.

A change of heart is important in ensuring ones commitment to change, he said.

Government cannot implement projects effectively without the cooperation of the public, Marañon said.

Marañon said that among his priority projects for 2008 will be the transfer of the Negros Occidental provincial jail to Bago City , and the renovation of the Gov. Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City and the Valladolid District Hospital .

This will be on top of the continuation of the provincial government's irrigation, rice and seeds programs, and the dispersal of animals and upgrading of breeds, he said.

He said as long as the domestic prices of sugar stay above P1,000, despite the low prices in the world and US markets, Negros Occidental's economy will be all right.*CPG
