More champions,
talents from grassroots
BY CEDELF TUPAS

More honors for athletes here and abroad. More sporting talents from the province. More support from government and private institutions.

These are just among the hopes and wishes of sports officials and athletes for Negros Occidental sports in 2008.

“I hope Negros Occidental and Bacolod to continue as rich homeground of sporting talents and for Negrense athletes to win more honors for the country in future international competitions,” Philippine sports commissioner Eric Loretizo said.

SPORTS COMMISSIONERS ASSURE SUPPORT
BY CEDELF TUPAS

Negros Occidental athletes were urged to aspire for greater heights and glory not just for themselves but for the country, their fellow Filipinos and Negrenses by Commissioner Eric Loretizo of the Philippine Sports Commission during the 2007 SCOOP-Bacolod Sports Awards, where he was the keynote speaker.

He also encouraged the athletes to be an inspiration to other people especially to their younger counterparts who will follow their footsteps.

PSC Commissioner Ritchie Garcia also committed his support to the athletes from Negros Occidental.
