3 men slain in Canlaon

Three men, one of them a member of a militant group, were shot dead before the year 2007 ended in Canlaon City .

Records from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office showed yesterday that two of the victims were killed by unknown suspects Saturday night in Purok Bayabas, Barangay Lumapao, Canlaon City .

The dead were identified as Juancho Tejada Pabalinas, 33, single, a farmer, of Purok Mangga, Brgy. Lumapao, Canlaon and a certain “Dongcoy,” of Tayasan town.

Investigation showed that the two were walking home when, upon reaching Purok Bayabas, Canlaon, they were waylaid and shot several times by the suspects.

Probers recovered from the crime scene 15 empty shells for an .56 mm caliber of M-16 rifle, two empty shells for of.45 caliber pistol, and one empty 12-gauge shotgun.

The gunmen are still at large.

Still in Canlaon, a member of a cause-oriented and human rights group was shot to death by an unknown suspect Wednesday in Sitio Alibabay, Barangay Panubigan.

The victim was identified as German Milabo, 39, married, jobless, and a member of Karapatan, and residing in Sitio Alibabay, Brgy. Panubigan.

Initial police investigation disclosed that Milabo was walking home and was followed by an unidentified person who shot him twice at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol. The suspects are still at large.

In Barangay Poblacion, Pamplona , a son was hacked by his father Thursday night due to an alleged misunderstanding, the police said.

Hacked was Ramson Heyrosa, 31, married, of Villegas Street , Poblacion, Pamplona while his assailant is identified as Feliciano Heyrosa, his father.

Police said the two had a heated argument at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, that led the elder Heyrosa to hack his son with a bolo locally known as “pinuti”, hitting him in his left shoulder. He was brought to a hospital in Dumaguete City .

The father voluntarily surrendered to the Pamplona police station.*RG
