Due process was observed and there was a thorough investigation before the termination of 12 employees of Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. Bacolod Plant, a statement from the company said yesterday.
The dismissed employees were found to have violated the company's Code of Disciplinary Rules and Regulations and were terminated after due process and investigation as required by law, the CCBPI management said.
The company issued the statement following the call of labor groups to boycott all Coca-Cola products in support to the dismissed employees, 10 of whom are union members. 


SMTDI stages strike vs. Tanduay
Members of the Samahan ng Manggagawa sa Tanduay Distillers Inc. yesterday went on strike against the TDI-Bacolod Plant to protest what they call acts of union-busting and illegal termination by the management.
Leading the strike are SMTDI president Von Lachica, who was terminated last November; secretary Merman Alcachupas; and director Ruel del Rosario.
Del Rosario, who is still working at Tanduay-Bacolod Plant, told the DAILY STAR he and Alcachupas walked out during their breaktime at past 10 a.m. yesterday to join the picket line beside the Gate 1 of the plant situated in Brgy. Blumentritt , Murcia . 


Moises Padilla council pushes
for increase in local tax rates
The Sangguniang Bayan of Moises Padilla is pushing for increase in municipal taxes and conducting a series of consultations on the proposal.
Vice Mayor Cipriano Remo said in a press release that there is a need to increase the local taxes to improve the delivery of basic services and to fund various projects.
He said that Moises Padilla has not increased its taxes for the past ten years although the Local Government Code states that local taxes should be increased every five years.
