| Having a relationship with his 18-year-old cousin cost him his life.
Alfonso Yonson, 16, whose body bore three stab wounds and signs of abrasions, was found yesterday by his family and neighbors along a creek in Sitio Madre de Cacao, Brgy. Santa Cruz, Murcia.
Senior Inspector Simone Gane, Murcia police chief, said one of three suspects who is a minor, was invited for questioning, in connection with the death of Yonson, his cousin.
The suspect, a 16-year-old student of the Lopez Jaena National High School, is now under the custody of the Municipal Welfare and Development Office of Murcia, while his cousin, Richard, and father, Alfonso de la Cruz, remained at-large yesterday.
The minor vehemently denied his participation in the commission of the crime.
Gane said de la Cruz vehemently opposed and was mad over the love affair of his 18-year-old daughter, Rina Mae, with her cousin, Yonson. The two had been living together for eight months.
Police investigation also showed that the presence of the couple in the hacienda on Feb. 27 was monitored by de la Cruz, who, along with his son, nephew and a relative identified only as Sonny, tracked them down.
Upon seeing the suspects who were armed with bladed weapons, the young couple fled, but they got separated later.
SPO2 Ranilo Mercurio, Murcia PNP chief investigator, said the body of Yonson was discovered at about 9:30 a.m. yesterday at the creek, about 50 meters away from his residence in the place.
While the family of Yonson had been exhausting efforts to peacefully settle the problem, the family of de la Cruz wanted to immediately terminate the love affair, Mercurio said.
Rina Mae, in an interview with DYHB, said she will pursue the filing of charges against all the suspects no matter who they are, as she vowed not to entertain any amicable settlement.
“They had no mercy for Ponso whom they had butchered like a pig,” she said.
Gane said they will be filing homicide charges against the four suspects, including the minor.
Meanwhile, a decomposing body was found in Hacienda Monserrat, Brgy. Salvador Benedicto in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, yesterday.
Inspector Mary Rose Pico, Pontevedra police chief, said they cannot ascertain yet if the victim was a man or a woman, as the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
Pico, however, said the victim could have been a woman.
Pontevedra police investigators are also facing a blank wall on who caused the death of the victim.*GPB
