SWEET SWEEP LOOMS FOR CANLUBANG
BY CEDELF TUPAS

With Jimmy Domingo and Jae Yang holding fort, Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club threatened to pull away by assembling 118 points in the founders’ division of the 61st Philippine Airlines Interclub at the Bacolod Golf and Country Club in Binitin, Murcia.

Domingo negotiated the fast greens well and bucked strong winds and the sporadic drizzle to submit 32 points --- a 4-over par 74 in medal play --- to spearhead Marapara’s drive, while Yang, the reigning club champion, backstopped with 31.

Max Javelona added 28 points and Chris Infante posted 27. Ray Lim’s 23 markers did not count.

X BAC, D Axial prevail

X BAC bucked the absence of center Edgar Espares and point guard Rommel Hofileña to pull off a 91-71 upset over BACIWA in the last game of the two-round elimination of Basketball Unified Sports Group quadrangular meet at Lopue’s South Square gym.

With only five players available, X BAC’s coach Bing Soyao was forced to play for two quarters as his team had to endure an opening 10-0 blast, before Zaldy Navarra, Biboy Java and Henry Doble responded with a 20-0 salvo of their own.

It was all X BAC from there as Melvin Baclay and Nene Lapore contributed in snuffing out the challenge from Baciwa.

Balsy, PGO triumph

Balsy Ventures nipped A.C. Parts, 60-59, Sunday at the start of the YBAC Loyalty Cup First Conference at the Manville Royalle Gym in Tangub, Bacolod City.

Noel Morancil and Nonong Java scored 10 points apiece while Rolyn Balquin, Nonoy Pacheco, and Fred Garcia made eight points each for Balsy Ventures.

Edmund Inventor delivered 11 points while teammates Paul Fernandez, Enrique Pedrosa, and Lito Ramos contributed nine points each and Ernie Castillo eight points for A.C. Parts.
