The 146.5-MW Panay Diesel plant and the 192.5-MW Palinpinon Geothermal plant would be bidded out in August and July, respectively, the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. has announced.

PSALM’s sale schedule indicates that the Panay Diesel in Dingle, Iloilo and Palinpinon in Valencia, Oriental Negros  will now be sold separately.

The sale of the two power plants is part of the government’s efforts to privatize at least 70 percent of its total generating assets.

‘Probe violations of
abattoir contractor’

The Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution Wednesday requesting the City Legal Office to probe violations committed by the contractor of the new slaughterhouse in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City, on the provisions of the contract it had entered into with the city, specifically on the time frame.

Its proponent, Councilor Alex Paglumotan said they have received information that AVM Bernardo Engineering will start the operation of the new slaughterhouse on March and they are requesting the CLO to review the contract to determine possible violations committed in case the contractor fails to operate the facility next month.
