IBP governor off to Japan attending AOTS

Western Visayas governor Raymund Mercado of the Integrated Bar of the Phillipines-Negros Oriental Chapter, has been chosen as one of the three Filipino representatives to the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship training based in Tokyo, Japan will end Saturday.

Mercado is with 25 other scholars from the ASEAN region undergoing an extensive training on corporate governance, geared towards better and responsible corporate management for the benefit of stockholders of corporations.

The training is meant to thresh out issues on protection of stockholders’ rights, transparency and impositions of sanctions.

Upon his return, the IBP Western Visayas Region will hold its regional convention with an 18-unit mandatory continuing legal education lecture series in Dumaguete City on March 6 to 8, at the Negros Oriental Convention Center.

The convention is supported by IBP members headed by Samsodin Tahir and Mercado. About 400 lawyers from Western Visayas are expected in the MCLE, with Sen. Francis Pangilinan as keynote speaker.*RG
