Fire destroys 7 houses
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

An estimated P350,000 in properties went up in flames in a 30-minute fire yesterday that gutted seven houses in Sitio Golf, Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay City.

Destroyed were the houses of Eddie Gido, Marietta Bayon-on, Alfredo Layco and Crispin Libo-on, and partially damaged were those of Bienvenido Manzanares, Merlin Pechero and Eddie Mosones.

Initial investigations by the Bureau of Fire and Protection showed that the fire originated from the kitchen of Gido’s house, and spread quickly to the neighboring houses.

Fire Officer 2 Zeaphard Caelian yesterday said a certain Lanie Belleza sustained a head injury, when she panicked because of fire.

Caelian said the fire, which started at about 8:30 a.m., was contained by responding Silay and Talisay BFP firefighters and volunteers after 30 minutes.

He added that the fire also destroyed appliances and personal belongings of the victims.*GPB
