BBC thumps Talisay;
Davies, Amspec pull through

BY CEDELF TUPAS

After struggling in three of their first four games, BBC came out firing on all cylinders Sunday night, thumping Talisay, 101-86, to resuscitate its sagging bid in the Class A division of the 8th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Joebert Pastias and Jojo Miravalles spearheaded the assault for the West Negros University-based squad with 18 and 14 points, respectively.

Together with Jeff Maningos, Miravalles got the ball rolling for BBC with 10 first-half points that helped them establish a 56-38 advantage at lemontime.

At the very least, stay in contention in the first three days of play.

That’s what Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club standout Francis Gaston wants his team to accomplish in the 61st Philippine Airlines Interclub men’s regular event starting today at the Bacolod Golf and Country Club and NOGCC.

Entered in the second-tier Founders’ division, Marapara is hoping to erase the stigma of its nightmarish outing in Cagayan De Oro City last year where it stumbled out of contention as early as the second round.
