NOGCC campaign

INTERCLUB MEN’S EVENT
BEGINS WEDNESDAY

Reigning club champion Jae Woo Yang will spearhead Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club’s campaign in the founders division of the 61st Philippine Airlines Interclub men’s regular championship, which tees off tomorrow at the NOGCC and Bacolod Golf and Country Club.

Yang, whose title streak began in 2004, is expected to be backstopped by former club champions Francis Gaston, who finished third in individual play, while seeing action for Luisita in the seniors event, Jun-B Bantug, Chris Infante and Federico “Kokoy” Locsin III, who will be the playing captain.

Completing the roster are NOGCC director Ray Anthony Lim, jungolf standout Chepe Dulay, Jimmy Feliciano, Max Javelona, Jimmy Yusay and Gerardo De Leon. 

Baer, del Rosario
lead top qualifiers

Allan Baer of ESD Triple-C, Sylvia del Rosario of  Condura ASSFBI Ladies, and Fred Mapano of  Sharp Blue Ray emerged as the top qualifiers in their respective divisions in the Knights of Columbus Open Trio Bowling Tournament at the New Top’s Millennium Plaza Bowling Alley in Bacolod City.

Baer topped the Class A division with an average of 118.72 pinfalls per game, while Del Rosario took the women’s bracket with 112.53.

Mapano collected 112.92 pinfalls per game to grab the top spot in the Class B category.

Bayrons favorite
in Konica event

Jay Bayron, the winningest amateur in 2007, will debut as a professional when he sees action in the Konica Minolta National Pro-Am set March 4-8 at The Riviera’s Langer in Silang, Cavite.

“Jay is in high spirits and he told me he wanted badly to win his first tournament as a professional,” Jake Ayson, the chair of the Rules Committee of the tournament sponsored by U-Bix Corporation and organized by the National Golf Association of the Philippines, said.
