up for demolition

BY RENE GENOVE

Siquijor Gov. Orlando Fua Jr. has ordered the demolition of the old Capitol building in the first quarter of this year, as the structure has become unfit for occupation.

He said a three-storey Hall of Justice will be constructed in the area.

Fua said the redevelopment of the government building is for the best interest of all. This is to ensure that the province is providing a safe, sanitary and decent workplace for government employees, he added.

The demolition will result in the transfer of the following offices presently occupying the structure: Department of Science and Technology, Department of Labor and Employment,  Provincial  Social Welfare and Development, Municipal Agrarian Reform, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Department of Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Fire Protection , Provincial Marshal, Social Security System, Philippine Coconut Authority, PhilHealth, Cooperative Delopment Authority, and the Philippine National Police-Traffic Management Command.*RG
