Iloilo protests held, too
BY NESTOR BURGOS JR.

ILOILO CITY – Churches in this city rang their bells continuously for at least 15 minutes Friday night in support of whistle-blower Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada, and for truth to come out.

Parishioners and church workers joined the protests by banging lamp posts and trash cans as part of the “Busina Para sa Katotohanan (Honk for the Truth)” protests.  Vehicles that passed by the churches also sounded their horns.

Msgr. Meliton Oso, executive director of the Jaro Archdiocese Social Action Center, said the noise barrage was held in 12 “busina” centers all over the city.

He said the concerted action dramatized their call for everyone “to tell the truth because the truth will set us free.”

Militant groups said they will hold a series of protest actions starting today, the 22nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power I uprising.

Aurelio Bosque, spokesperson of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan in Panay, said the protests is a build-up for nationwide protest actions set on February 29 to press for accountability for those involved in the ZTE-NBN scandal.*NPB
