11 injured in misha

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Two high school students died, and 11 others were injured in a vehicular accident in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, the police said yesterday.

Killed on the spot were Peter John Tabanda and Jerick Batallon, both 15, and students of La Consolacion Extension School in Isabela, the Moises Padilla police said.

The 13 students of LCES were on their way to Mambangon Spring Resort for an excursion when the tricycle they were riding in  collided head-on with a Fuzo passenger mini-bus in Sitio Takasan, Brgy. Magallon Cadre in Moises Padilla, the police said.

The tricycle driven by Mark Anthony Javera was negotiating an uphill climb on a blind curve, when the vehicular accident took place, SPO1 Arturo Flores, Moises Padilla chief investigator, said.

Some of the high school students were thrown as far as three meters from the tricycle, because of the collision impact, he said.

Injured in the mishap were Kenneth Flordeliz, Hazel Delgado, Nilo Timrad and Javera, the tricycle driver, who are now treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital, while Dexter Almojeda, Jude Clinton Lopez, John Arnel de la Torre, Lina Lyn Palma, John Mark Becara and Myles Robles, are confined at the Riverside Medical Center, in Bacolod City.

Flores said none of the passengers of the mini-bus was  injured, while the driver identified as Bobby Maque is now detained at the Moises Padilla Police Station Jail.*GPB
