| The second batch of farmers training under the “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan” Project for backyard vegetable growing of the Shoe Mart Foundation, Negros Economic Development Foundation and Harbest Agribusiness Corp., was launched Friday at a demo farm in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City.
In May, the project partners also tapped about 100 farmers in Negros Occidental to undergo a weekly hands-on training in organic farming from May to August.
The farmers were sponsored by the SM Foundation, together with NEDF that provided a 5,000-square meter land for the training. Harbest Agribusiness, headed by its president Arsenio Barcelona, invited agriculturists to conduct the trainings.
The project ended with a Harvest Festival at SM City Bacolod in August last year.*NLG
