Trimaxi keeps lead
BY CEDELF TUPAS

There was no movement on the top of the table as the four best teams split their two assignments in the Villa Valderrama 9-a-side football tournament at the Villa Valderrama pitch in Bacolod City last weekend.

Despite an anemic performance against Bacolod United which saw them lose, 6-1, Trimaxi kept its grip on the No. 1 spot with a 2-1 win over second-running Europa-LRY in a Feb. 16 match. Trimaxi hiked its tally to 13 points.

Europa-LRY bounced back the following day by scoring a thrilling 4-3 victory over Dynamic. Goals from Eliseo Palomo and Ian Treyes secured the win for Leorey Yanson’s team, which lay second in the table with 11 points.

Fourth-running Bacolod United was also unable to sweep its two games, losing to Los Buenas, 0-1. That big win over Trimaxi, though, pushed Bacolod United to 10 points, level with Dynamic, which won via walkover against Los Futbuleros.

The games resume Sunday with Bacolod United facing Dynamic at 1:30 p.m., followed by the match between Los Futboleros and Europa. Los Buenas and Trimaxi clash in the last match.*CPT
