Katrina Halili new
endorser of beauty soap

The latest endorser for Olive-C beauty soap is Katrina Halili, a press release from Psalmstre Enterprises, the company behind the New Placenta Soap, Livermin and Vita-Ginseng, said.

Olive-C beauty soap caters to teens and young adults. It is an all-natural beauty product with combination of olive oil, and other natural active ingredients to help moisturize skin, combat pimples, blackheads and skin impurities.

Besides the facial care line, it will also have its skin care and hair care brands, the press release said.

As endorser, Halili will be featured in the Mr. and Ms. Fashionista 2008 Model Search, tomorrow, to be held at the Baguio Convention Center in Baguio, the press release added.

2 bands win in
acoustic showdown

The Single String and Drop Zone bands won in the second weekly finals of the Robinsons Place Acoustic Showdown held Saturday, at Robinson’s mall in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

Single String also won the Best Bossa for “Para Sa Akin “ and Best Original Composition entitled “Under the Rain.“ The group which received a total of P5,000 is composed of Josie Patoy on lead vocals, Jessa Laren Nacolangga - percussion/vocals, Marvin Apoyon - guitar/vocals, and Rica Martinez - recorder/vocals.

Pamela Hulleza on vocals, Tyrone Mark Moraña - percussions, and Kenneth Calucod – guitar composed Drop Zone which took home P3,000, the press release said.

Consolation prize of P1,000 went to the Sound Definition band of Napoleon Layson on vocals, Alexander Sinay Jr. - guitar, and Bernard Villarin - percussions.

Meanwhile, the Best Original Composition entitled “Next to the Fire” of the first weekly winner, Marit Larsen Band, is being played over ABS-CBN 101.5 M.O.R., the press release said.

Guidance
counselors take oath

Commissioner Nilo Rosas of the Professional Regulation Commission administered the oath to the first batch of registered guidance counselors, at the Manila Hotel, recently, a press release from the University of St. La Salle-Business Resource Center said.

Among the 154 new licensed guidance counselors who qualified under the Grandfathers’ Clause, or Registration without Examination, was Dr. Evangeline Caper, director of the University of St. La Salle Guidance and Evaluation Center in Bacolod City, and the only one from Western Visayas.

Republic Act 9258, or the Guidance and Counseling Act of 2004, requires guidance counselors to pass licensure examinations, in order to professionalize the guidance and counseling in the Philippines, the press release said.

The requirements are set by the PRC and the Board of Guidance Counselors, the press release added.*
