| The Silliman University College of Nursing and Allied Health Services placed third nationwide with a passing national average of 97 percent in the Nursing Board Examinations given in December 2007.
As of press time, though, the college is still validating the results of all the 315 examinees from SU, its Dean Dr. Teresita Sinda said.
Of the 67,728 examinees who took the exam, only 28,994 passed nationwide.
Sinda said that, in her many years in the academe, this is the lowest national passing rate in the nursing board examination at 43.45 percent.
Saint Louis University in Baguio City placed first with 99 percent passing average, followed by Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City with 98 percent mark, records showed.
Sinda said the low turnout may be due to the failure of the Commission on Higher Education to monitor the academic proficiency of nursing schools it has accredited.*RG
