NHA unveils program
for illegal occupants

The National Housing Authority has launched the program, “Ang Pirma Mo, Pabahay Sa ‘Yo,” that awards an NHA property to beneficiaries considered as illegal occupants, a government press release said.

NHA Memorandum Circular 2136 or the revised guidelines for the legalization of occupants on NHA properties allows families to obtain an award for those who are illegally occupying NHA-owned properties.

It also covers applicants for legal occupation who are officially listed on the list of illegal occupants submitted to the Area Management Office, Estate Management Department on March 31, 2008.

Qualified applicants are Filipino citizens who are of legal age, married or single or head of the family; those who do not own house/lot or who are not in a contract to buy residential house/lot; those who are not beneficiaries of NHA or any government house/lot project and those who are not professional squatters or members of a syndicate squatters under Republic Act 7279, the press release said.

Memorandum Circular 2138 states the program is also applied to those who are occupying house/lot with NHA approval, including those who are under the NHA’s program such as resettlement and slum upgrading.

It also covers those whose names are on the official list of  occupants of NHA house/lot projects with approval and is submitted to the AMO and received by the Estate Management on or before Oct. 31, 2007.

Also covered are applicants who applied starting April 1, 2008 to Sept. 30, 2008 or those who have applied earlier and have already been approved.

Mode of payment is either cash or installment through the Conditional Contract to Sell at the prevailing price since related circulars took effect until September 2008, the press release added.

Those who wish for more information may call the NHA office in Bacolod City at 433-21-81.*
