| The Department of Agrarian Reform in Negros Oriental launched the DAR-Agraryong Pangkalusugan in Canlaon City Friday.
The DAR-AP is a capability building program whose main thrust is developing models of health support systems in Agrarian Reform Communities.
It is grounded on understanding community-based social health insurance systems as an important alternative mechanism for financing and healthcare management, particularly for many low income communities. It helps to make health care services affordable, acceptable, available, accessible and adequate.
The program components include: capability building for ARB organization, capacity building program for field implementers, development of training manuals, technical mentoring and development and installation of monitoring and evaluation systems.
Project beneficiaries are the cooperatives of Masulog Farmers Community Multi-purpose Cooperative of Barangay Masulog; Ramrod Agricultural Multi-purpose Cooperative – Angas I, Barangay Mabigo and Panubigan Community Multi-purpose Cooperative – Barangay Panubigan all of Canlaon City , covering ARB and non-ARB members in an ARC.
Meanwhile, 80 farmer beneficiaries in the 81.0122-hectare property previously owned by Helen Schon in Panubigan, Canlaon, were installed recently by the DAR.
The property was acquired through the Voluntary Offer to Sell Scheme.
Officials present at the installation were DAR VII regional director Datu Yusoph Mama, provincial agrarian reform officer Grace Fua, OIC PARO Pacifico Quindo, Jr. DAR provincial staff, municipal agrarian reform officer Roy Bautista and his staff.*RG
