| Probac and Province of Negros Occidental triumphed over separate foes in the Class A division of the 8th Tan Kek Pin Cup Memorial Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School over the weekend.
Led by Ariston Sillana and Ryan Concha, Probac beat Bapro, 91-77, to finish its elimination-round campaign with a 3-2 win-loss slate. Sillana finished with 16 points, while Concha led a second quarter uprising and wound up with 11 points, including nine in the first half that ended 48-38.
Probac drew firepower from almost every player with Leo Casinillo, Chad Paez, Ryan Gamboa and Peewee Demonteverde adding 9 points each.
Tommy Andren paced Bapro with 15 while GE Quizan posted 14.
It was Marlon Talatala and Rex Bayer who joined forces to allow Province to overcome BBC, 93-81.
Talatala turned in 7 of his 15 markers in the final period, where Bayer added five points. Province actually started strong, taking a 22-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, before Jojo Miravalles and Joebert Pastias put BBC back into the game.
BBC lost steam in the end, though, as Bert Celis, John Paul Agena and Joseph Arenas provided enough scoring support.
Province ended its elimination-round bid with a 2-3 slate, while BBC dropped to 1-3.*CPT
