Caretaker hangs self
IN PONTEVEDRA

The police yesterday said they are eyeing unpaid debts as the reasons why a fish farm caretaker hanged himself in Pontevedra town, Negros Occidental, Monday.

PO2 Nilo Henosa said Alexander Dandal, 45, may have killed himself because of debts he had incurred after buying feeds and implements for the farm that were destroyed by recent floods.

Dandal was found by his family members hanging in their house beside the fish farm that has been entrusted to him by the Yulo family in Purok Nava, Brgy. 3, Pontevedra town, Henosa said.

He said the pressures from his creditors may have taken their toll on him.

Pastor Larry Cuson, Dandal's friend, said in a television interview that Dandal, a widower, had been talking about committing suicide before the incident Monday.

Dandal's two daughters, both elementary pupils, will now be under the custody of his family, Henosa said.

On Sunday, a 21-year-old trisikad driver also hanged himself in Purok Araw, Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City , for still unknown reasons.*PP
