WV cops banned from cockpits
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The law prohibiting policemen from entering cockpits was reiterated by the Western Visayas police command headed by newly-installed Region 6 police director Isagani Cuevas, who said it is aimed at the “unsightly presence” of police officers in such places.

In a memorandum sent to all police units in Western Visayas, Cuevas said his order was also in consonance with the PNP's Service Pledge, which encourages policemen to lead a decent and virtous life to serve as an example to others. He added that the order will take effect immediately.

Upon his assumption of the Police Regional Office 6 command, Cuevas issued a stern warning to erring policemen, who, he said, will not be given chances.

Cuevas also encouraged civilians to report any presence of policemen in cockpits to the nearest police station, or relay the information through PNP TEXT 2920.

Cuevas also ordered police commanders to post signboards in cockpits stating “Bawal Ang Pulis Sa Sabungan”.*GPB
