| The National Food Authority collected P2.21 million in license and registration fees in 2007 from 1,904 grains traders in Negros Occidental, records of the NFA show.
Last year, the NFA Enforcement and Investigation Team also apprehended 56 grains businessmen and collected administrative fines totaling P65,000.
In 2006, NFA raked in P2.06 million in license and registration fees from 1,818 grains traders while in 2005, P2.52 million from 1,727 grains traders.
The NFA-Negros Occidental had earlier said rice traders from E.B. Magalona, Manapla, Bacolod City , and Talisay City were due to
renew their NFA licenses in January.
Also, accredited outlets such as Bigasan ni Gloria sa Palengke, Tindahan Natin, Bigasan sa Parokya and outside market grains retailers also need to seek re-accreditation as NFA rice outlet.
It is the NFA's policy to ensure that these outlets comply with the rules and regulations in selling NFA rice, NFA manager Marianito said.*NLG
