Rebels torch delivery truck
‘MGM'T DID NOT PAY REVOLUTIONARY TAX'

Five suspected New People's Army rebels burned a Tanduay delivery truck in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental, on Thursday, allegedly for refusal of the management to pay revolutionary taxes, the military said.

Second Lt. Jumrhic Obias, 11 th Infantry Battalion Civil Military Operations chief, yesterday said the delivery truck driven by Bryan Abrasaldo was waylaid by two unidentified rebels armed with 9mm and .45 caliber pistols, in front of a sari-sari store owned by Brgy. Capt. Venus Mahinay. The truck was brought to the boundary of Brgys. Tabon and Molobolo in Vallehermoso town.

Obias said the two suspects were joined by three others who came out from a sugarcane field, bringing two gallons of gasoline.

Council for women, kids eyed

Women groups in Dumaguete are helping a first-termer city councilor draft an ordinance to address the concerns of women and children in the city.

Councilor Amy Dicen discussed provisions of her proposal to create the Local Council for Women and Children in Dumaguete at a committee meeting Tuesday, that covered the Anti-Trafficking of Humans under Republic Act 9208, and Republic Act 9262, or the Domestic Violence Against Women and Children's Act. .

marks anniversary

Valencia , Negros Oriental, celebrated the first anniversary of its Community-Based Healthy Lifestyle and Neighborhood Family Health Care and Wellness Program, Thursday.

The celebration on the theme “Support the Decade of Healthy Lifestyle Program,” kicked off with a healthy walk around the main streets of Valencia .

Gov. Emilio Macias II, Valencia Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez Jr. and Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices gave messages.
