Fight minions of
evil, bishop calls

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negrenses are being urged to join a crusade for truth led by the Diocese of Bacolod today and to bring candles and torches.

“I enjoin all to come and express solidarity in our fight against the minions of evil in the form of dishonesty and lies that beset our country,” Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said yesterday.

A “Mass for Truth” will be held at the San Sebastian Cathedral at 5:15 p.m. today to be followed by a via crucis around the Bacolod public plaza in support of Senate witness Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada who has exposed corruption in government, Navarra said.

Pray and be converted, the bishop called.

Felipe Levy Gelle Jr., Bagong Alyansang Makaabayan-Negros secretary general, said BAYAN supports the activities initiated by the Diocese of Bacolod “seeking the truth” on the controversial NBN scandal.

“Like our priests and religious, we express our outrage over the shameless cover-up of corruption. The arrogance and impunity of the Arroyo regime and its brazen use of state machinery to silence and harass people like Jun Lozada are too much,” he said.

The people's protest will snowball in the coming days as public indignation over the NBN scam and the kidnapping of Lozada, the latest in the growing list of crimes against the people by the Arroyo regime, intensifies, he said.

Alongside the church, BAYAN is planning to hold actions in support of Lozada and will revive its campaign for the ouster of the president, he said.*CPG
