Confab center inspected
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Provincial Engineer's Office yesterday inspected the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City , to determine possible construction defects following a minor incident at a pre-Valentine's concert held Wednesday evening.

Several ceramic tiles fell off a portion of the wall above the doorway leading to the convention center, as people were still arriving for the first-ever concert of bossa nova crooner, Sitti.

No one was hurt as concert-goers were being ushered in through another main entrance to center.

Witnesses said they heard a large rumbling, crashing sound before they saw a bunch of tiles fall on the floor outside the facility. These tiles may have been dislodged due to the vibration of the sound system and music coming from the second floor of the facility where the concert was held.

Provincial administrator Marilou Kho said Susano Ruperto, Jr. of the PEO immediately ordered the repair of the area.

Kho assured they will always take public safety as a priority concern.

The Capitol also assured that corrective measures will be undertaken at the multi-million peso facility that opened during the recent International Rondalla Festival.

The center was constructed during the term of then governor and now Rep. George Arnaiz (2 nd district, NegOr) and was completed during the administration of Gov. Emilio Macias II.*JG
