Salabas slay case
transfer to Manila ok'd
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The lawyers in the kidnap-slay of Eleuterio Salabas and his two companions yesterday agreed to the moving of the case from Guihulngan in Negros Oriental to Manila .

The counsel for the family of Ricardo Suganob, Lorenzo Alminaza, said in a television interview that this will be easier for them and the defense because it will lessen the travel expenses of their witnesses who are staying in Manila .

Twelve former police officers and 10 civilians have been tagged in the kidnapping and killing of Salabas, Suganob, and Maximo Lomoljo in August 2003.

The Supreme Court has not yet ordered the transfer of the proceedings.

Meanwhile, Raymund Fortun, lawyer of Chief Inspector Clarence Dongail, one of the former law enforcers accused, told ABS-CBN the possible transfer of the hearing to Manila will lessen his client's concerns for his security.

Dongail and SPO2 Freddie Natividad are now detained at the Guihulngan Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.*PP
