The extreme sport of wakeboarding makes its debut in the Visayas region with the staging of the 2008 Bacolod Wakeboard and Wakeskate Winch Jam on Feb. 23 and 24 at the East Block Park in Bacolod City .

Solomon Martinez, one of the organizers of the event, last night said the park will be transformed into a 200-ft makeshift pool with a 16-ft gap so participants can execute tricks.

Martinez said that at least nine riders from Manila will come over to conduct a demonstration on the first day of the event. A clinic will also be conducted the following day, he added.

Martinez said a party on the night of Feb. 23 will also highlight the event.*CPT
