| Alert Level 1 remains hoisted over Kanlaon Volcano, which means that its slightly elevated unrest and volcanic activity could possibly lead to steam and ash ejections, a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said in a bulletin issued yesterday.
The public is strongly advised not to enter the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone because sudden explosions may occur without warning, PHIVOLCS said.
PHIVOLCS also said residents of areas beyond the PDZ that are downwind of the crater are likely to be affected by ash falls during explosions.
PHIVOLCS assured that it is continuously monitoring the volcanic activity and will provide updates with each significant development.
Kanlaon Volcano's seismic network recorded two volcanic earthquakes during the past 24 hours, the PHIVOLCS bulletin said yesterday.
No steaming was observed at the crater during cloud break early yesterday morning, it added.*CPG
