A security officer at the Southern Negros Development Corp. in Barangay Camugao, Kabankalan City , was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen at about 4 p.m. yesterday.

Killed was Serafin Diacordo Nuñez, chief security officer of Lanting Security Agency detailed at SONEDCO sugar central, SPO1 Joselito Mendoñez of the Kabankalan police said last night.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound that entered the back of his left ear when he was shot at SONEDCO, causing his instantaneous death, an initial police report said.

His 9 mm pistol service firearm and cellular phone were taken by the suspects, the report said.

Although the suspects have yet to be identified, a personal grudge was being eyed as the motive, Mendoñez said.

The police conducted hot pursuit operations on the assailants but were unable to find them as of press time, he said.*CPG
