| Police filed murder with theft charges yesterday against three alleged New People's Army hitmen tagged as the suspects in the assassination of PO3 Danilo Malones in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, on Feb.8.
Senior Inspector Louie Figueroa, Cauayan police chief, yesterday said the respondents in the charges for the murder of Malones, filed before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor's Office, are Russel Langcoyan, 18; Felipe Domdom, 26; and his brother, Robert, 39.
The arrest of the three suspects in Brgy. Linaon, Cauayan on Sunday, two days after the death of Malones, also yielded a 9mm pistol, police records show.
Lt. Col. Romeo Basco, 61 st IB commander, claimed that the apprehended suspects are members of the NPA Special Partisan Unit who were on a test mission.
Basco also said the liquidation of Malones was ordered by Reniel Cellon, alias Kumpol, secretary of the Komiteng Larangan- Southwest.
Figueroa said they have witnesses to prove that Langcoyan and Felipe Domdom were involved in the killing of Malones.
Police investigations also indicated that Arnie Malones, wife of the slain policeman, and several other witnesses as one of the two gunmen who shot the victim, with Felipe Domdom, alias Aming, as the look-out.
However, the arrested suspects denied any participation in the killing, and being NPA members.
Figueroa said it was Langcoyan who took the .45 caliber pistol with three magazines of ammunition and the wallet of Malones, before fleeing from the scene of the incident.
Witnesses said the gunmen, who were armed with .45 caliber and 9mm pistols, also introduced themselves as members of the NPA and were quoted as saying something in Tagalog.*GPB
