Trimaxi booters seize lead
EUROPA-LRY, BACOLOD UTD PLAY TO DRAW

Trimaxi blazed into the top of the table with a 6-1 win over basement squad Los Fubtboleros Sunday in the 2008 Villa Valderrama 9-a-side football tournament at the Villa Valderrama pitch in Bacolod City .

Fean Trebol, Michael Benedicto, Troy Parks , Carlo Torbelo, Eric Gallaga and L.A. Azucena got into the scoresheet as Trimaxi raised its record to 3-wins, 1-loss and a draw for nine points, ahead of erstwhile leader Europa-LRY.

Europa-LRY and Bacolod United dropped one place in the standings after they played to an exciting 2-2 stalemate. The result left Europa-LRY at 8 points on two wins and two draws, while Bacolod United slipped to fourth with a 2-1-1 card for 7 points.

Former national team striker Norman Fegidero Jr. denied Europa-LRY the full three points, poking home from close range late in the second half, after Russel Nene and Ian Roland Treyes had put Europa-LRY ahead twice.

The draw also allowed Dynamic Builders to climb to third, after drubbing Los Buenas FC, 6-0, to improve to 2-1-1 for 7 points.

The games resume Saturday with a top-of-the-table showdown between Europa-LRY and Trimaxi at 1:30 p.m., followed by he LFU-Dynamic duel and the LBFC-Bacolod United match.

Trimaxi's other wins came against Bacolod United, 4-1 and Los Buenos FC, 5-3. Dynamic had earlier drew with Europa, 1-1, before dealing Trimaxi its only loss in the tournament 2-0.

Bacolod United dealt Dynamic's lone defeat, 4-0, before blanking LFU, 3-0.

The tournament format calls for a double-round robin eliminations with the No. 1 team clashing with the No. 4 squad in the semifinals, while the No. 2 and No. 3 sides face off.*CPT
