| Two men are facing murder charges for allegedly conspiring to kill their neighbor in Bacolod City Sunday night, the police said yesterday.
Reynaldo Habdum and Harry Lapore were arrested by Police Station 6 and City Mobile Group officers led by Chief Inspector Ulysses Ortiz after helping each other in provoking and killing Marciano Navada, 35, at BM Compound, Brgy. Taculing, in Bacolod , at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Ortiz said.
Habdum, who was nabbed in Brgy. Handumanan, in Bacolod after escaping, admitted to shooting Navada with a homemade gun known as “sulpak”, while Lapore was arrested during a hot-pursuit operation in Brgy. Taculing, Ortiz said.
Navada reportedly died on the way to the hospital.
Ortiz said they will try to file the murder charges against the two at the City Prosecutor's Office today.
Based on SPO1 Jerry Senoro's investigation, Ortiz said grudges between Lapore and Navada triggered the attack.
Navada had punched Lapore during a previous confrontation when the latter slapped the victim's child and the suspect apparently provoked the victim to chase him while Habdum waited at a corner with the gun, Ortiz said.
He said the suspects, who are now detained at Police Station 6, have been subjected to paraffin tests to verify who indeed shot Navada, and the results of are expected to come out today.
Meanwhile, Alaquim Soquino was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after he was stabbed by Joseph Zamora in Purok Star Apple, Brgy. 27, in Bacolod , at about 9 p.m. Sunday, SPO3 Jerry Gorrecita of Police Station 4, said.
No motive has been established for the incident yet and Zamora is still at large, Gorrecita said.*PP
