La Salle cagers pace
Mayor Bing cagefest

University of St. La Salle scored two victories to keep its grip on the lead in the 14-Under division of the Mayor Bing Small Basketeers Tournament at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City over the weekend.

Eman Sevilla registered 17 points as USLS-A thumped erstwhile unbeaten Davies Sagay, 82-25.

Sevilla was also at the forefront of La Salles' 78-48 demolition of La Consolacion College-Main Sunday. Helping out Sevilla was James Golez, who came through with 13 points.

The twin wins hiked La Salle 's record to 6-0, while Davies Sagay dropped to 6-1.

In the 12-Under division, Davies, powered by Robert Smalley's 13 points, overcame St. John's Institute-A, 64-54. Davies improved to 7-1 for second spot behind La Salle .

SJI earlier beat Cabug, 64-53, with Zoey Pandan leading the way with 15 points. The Falcons are in third with a 6-1 slate.

In other games, Cabug banked on Gealord Destora's 19 points to defeat MG Medalla, 54-38, while Stallions trounced Trinity Christian School , 59-55, thanks to Cleo Gayacao's 14 markers. Medalla pulled off a 68-65 win over SJI-B as Egie Boy Paglomutan scored 15 points.

In 14-Under division games, Stallions toppled Barangay 10, 51-40, with Jason Espejo topscoring with 14 points. The Stallions notched their second win for the weekend by dumping USLS-B, 69-54, with Espejo and teammate Dave Gonzales topping the scoring charts with 21 points apiece.*CPT
